Shoe Sizes and Converting Between Sizes
The most difficult aspect of gathering shoe size information is accurately converting between different shoe size measuring systems. Not only do shoe size measurement systems differ between countries, but even within a particular system, one brand of shoes might run small and another brand large.
Since we try to present all shoe sizes on a level playing field, we convert all shoe sizes to the US system. If there's an auction listing for a pair of shoes that are size EU 39, we'll present that information as "size EU 39 (US 9)". But the headline/main listing for that celebrity will just say "So-and-so's shoe size is 9".
There are a number of different shoe size conversion charts out there…and they all convert their sizes differently. One chart might convert an EU 9 to a US 9. Another will convert EU 9 to US 8.5. And still another will convert the same size to 8. Based on the size information we've collected so far and comparing that to well-know shoe sizes of some celebrities, we've decided to use eBay's shoe sizing chart for our conversions.
